Mexican Pizza

You will need:

Pizza crust. You can make the dough from scratch (there are plenty of recipes around) or maybe you can buy Pizza Dough at your local supermarket or you can use a flatbread like Boboli.

1 to 1 lbs ground beef

1 onion, chopped

1 package Taco seasoning

1 can tomato sauce (8 oz.)

about 3 cups shredded cheese (I like to use a mix of Mozzarella and Taco cheese)

Toppings (Onions, Peppers, Jalapeos, mushrooms or whatever

Today is Cinco de Mayo:

In honor of this day I offer my recipe for Mexican Pizza.

For the sauce, brown the ground beef with the chopped up onion. When the meat is browned, drain the fat, return to pan and stir in the can of tomato sauce and the Taco Seasoning mix. You might have to add a little water. This is a good time to add any of your favorite Mexican spices. Heat the meat mixture until it thickens.

Prepare the crust.

Spread the sauce mixture out nice and thick and dot with jalapeos if desired.

Cover with the cheese.

Add the toppings.

Bake pizza in a hot 450 to 500 oven for 15 to 20 minutes until cheese is hot and bubbly and the crust is nicely browned.

ENJOY!
