Welcome to allstondave's Virtual Tour of Boston. My
name is allstondave and I will be your tour guide. On this tour we will stop by some of the cool places to visit in and around Boston that have websites. So hop on board, strap yourself in and hang on as away we go!
If we head down Massachusetts Avenue, towards
Boston, we pass through Central Square. One of the
best remaining Rock Music clubs in the area is located
here, The Middle East Club. This combination bakery, restaurant and music club features three rooms all having live music
seven nights a week. International, big time bands, as well as local acts have all appeared on the Middle East's stages.
Further down Mass. Ave., we come to the campus of M.I.T., one of the country's top techie schools. Many of the technologies that we are using right now were developed there. The M.I.T. Museum houses many exhibits showing the contributions of M.I.T. research.
The Pranks of M.I.T. students are legendary. One night, many years ago, some students decided to measure the length of the Mass Avenue bridge (called the Harvard Bridge for some reason) in an unconventional way.
They did it by laying this guy named Smoot down over and over, head to toe and marking off the bridge in "Smoots". You can see the markings on the sidewalk of the inbound side of the bridge, which were redone a couple years ago when the bridge was totally rebuilt. |
