Christian Science Center

Christian Science
Center

Behind the Prudential Center, across Dalton Street, is the Mother Church of the Christian Science faith. Christian
Science ChurchThe complex is made up of several buildings, the beautiful church, the publishing house for the Christian Science Monitor and the tall church admin- istration building. In the publishing building there is an exhibit called the Maparium. This consists of a huge walk-through globe of the Earth made of different colors of stained glass. This and other exhibits at the Christian Science Center would be of interest to people of any faith.

Science Church Reflecting PoolBetween the buildings is a huge 98 foot wide by 686 foot long reflecting pool sur- rounded by beautiful beds of colorful flowers and a large fountain. On hot days in the summer, the church is kind enough to turn down the pressure in the summer so the kids can cool off

and play in the fountain.

They even post one of the administrators out there to act as lifeguard and keep the kids from running in the fountain or doing anything dangerous. Christian Science Church Fountain This is a great place to hang out on hot summer evenings.

In the late spring of 2001, The Center rebuilt the fountain, replacing all the old brickwork with a new flat brick surface which has no protrusions for kids to trip over. They also added new lights under the water jets which are programmed to change colors in beautiful patterns.
